One of the best things you can do in New Mexico is to learn about its indigenous heritage on a deeper level. We designed our Acoma Pueblo, Chaco Canyon, Bandelier National Monument, and Taos Pueblo tours to be strung together in a Friday-to-Monday itinerary that follows their timeline from ancient beginnings to the modern-day pueblo. Check out our Acoma Pueblo and Chaco Canyon Cultural Tour Bundle.

Santa Fe is a perfect starting point for exciting day trips. We recommend our High Road to Taos Day Trip, which takes you to Taos’s best sights via a scenic byway traversing a historic mountainous route that ventures into remote artistic enclaves. For active travelers, explore ancestral cliff dwellings on our Hiking Tour in Bandelier National Monument. For those interested in the landscapes that inspired Georgia O’Keeffe, our Ghost Ranch + Abiquiu Landscapes Day Tour from Santa Fe is another highlight.
-
Get off the beaten path and discover Chaco Canyon, a pre-historic Puebloan place of mystery that has been likened to Machu Picchu. We also recommend you head one hour north to Santa Fe, the country’s oldest capital, to explore the city’s rich heritage on foot or by e-bike.
-
New Mexico is a year-round destination, but the best time depends on your interests. Thanks to New Mexico’s high desert climate, we have four distinct seasons that allow for a variety of activities. With over 300 days of sunshine on average per year, New Mexico is the perfect place to get outside and explore any day of the year. Each season has its highlight. With little humidity, the summer months are comfortable, especially in Northern New Mexico, which sits at higher elevations. We recommend exploring the Sangre de Cristo mountains, getting on the river, hiking through Bandelier National Monument, or taking an e-bike tour in Santa Fe or Taos. In the Winter, check out one of New Mexico’s ski resorts, go snowshoeing, visit White Sands National Monument, or take a city walking tour.
-
For travelers looking to get off the beaten path, our Magical Heirlooms of Chimayó Day Tour from Santa Fe showcases the old Southwest of the 1800s with immersive demonstrations and tastings. In Taos, get an insider perspective on traditional Puebloan life with our Hands-on Horno cooking class. Our Ghost Ranch + Abiquiu Landscapes Day Tour from Santa Fe is also one of the best ways to discover the Colorado Plateau and our state fossil at Ghost Ranch.
