It is hard not to have expectations when you visit Chaco for the first time. Not unlike the ancient visitors, we have heard stories about Chaco’s grandeur, its architecture, and ceremonial significance, and might wonder will the reality match what we have imagined along the way?
But when you arrive in Chaco, the scale, the intricacy, and design are beyond anything you could have dreamed of. Stone walls fearlessly cut the expanse of blue sky, and there might be a petroglyph, a shadow, a star, that shifts you for a moment and you feel altered, changed. But it doesn’t end there…
In our last newsletter Heritage Inspirations owner Angelisa Murray spoke to the lingering impact of the Chaco journey, and how this sacred site can continue to guide, heal, rejuvenate long after the visit has ended. This week, we dig a little deeper as we explore the transformative powers of the Chaco experience. Author and guide Daniel Gibson shares reflections of sublime beauty, adventure, and curiosity in his article “Chaco Wonderings.” And then we are honored to interview former Chaco Park Interpretive Ranger and Night Sky Program Founder GB Cornucopia, as he inspires us to have a more direct connection with nature and the stars above.
